This is a new version of this photo. I shot a very similar photo of this scene last year. It's such a beautiful sight at sunset that I felt inclined to make it again. The Californian was launched in 1984 as part of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It is a replica of the 1847 revenue cutter CW Lawrence, which patrolled the west coast during the California Gold Rush. She was acquired by the San Diego Maritime Museum in 2003.
