Sunset Cliffs

Sunset Cliffs, originally uploaded by frank.mara.

Point Loma is characterized by soft, sandstone cliffs along the ocean. These cliffs are deeply scarred by the effects of ongoing erosion. The edges are very unstable in some areas. This photo was shot in Sunset Cliffs Nature Park, just below the Point Loma Nazarene University. Shot with a Nikon N80, Tamron SP AF17-35MM F/2.8-4 Di LD lens and Fuji Superia Reala ISO100 film (07110020e).

The Californian At Sunset in San Diego Harbor

This is a new version of this photo. I shot a very similar photo of this scene last year. It's such a beautiful sight at sunset that I felt inclined to make it again. The Californian was launched in 1984 as part of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It is a replica of the 1847 revenue cutter CW Lawrence, which patrolled the west coast during the California Gold Rush. She was acquired by the San Diego Maritime Museum in 2003. She is currently berthed outboard of the ferry Berkeley. Shot with a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55 f3.5 DX lens. (DSC_0073e) Frank Mara, All rights reserved

Wheel Chair Racing

DSC_0898, originally uploaded by frank.mara.

A shot of one of the wheel chair competitors during the 2007 Peachtree Road Race. This is one of my favorite sports photos. I love the intensity of the racer's expression as she drives for the finish line. Shot with a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D lens.
